My Films
Franklin
Written, Directed, Produced, and Edited by Jacob Sarver
A personal passion project I wrote in the summer of 2022 and filmed in January of 2023. This was the only film I wrote, directed, and produced in college, but I loved the experience and am very proud of it. The more time I spent on this film and with these characters the more I fell in love with it and I’m currently working on converting the script into a feature film.
a painting of a house
Edited by Jacob Sarver
A student short film written and directed by Alex Chadwick for Cinelon Productions. This film might be the proudest I’ve been of one of my editing projects in terms of how it creates a rhythm and how quickly and efficiently I was able to complete it. This is another example where I was initially brought on as a First AC then entrusted with the role of editor later on.

Cinematography by Jacob Sarver
A student short film written and directed by Kaitlyn Hannan for Cinelon Productions. Shot on Canon C70, this was the last film I made during my time at Elon University. I was the cinematographer, but the director and I are close friends and I had some creative input at every stage of development from writing, to directing, and eventually in editing. Selected as an honorable mention to the Student World Impact Film Festival
Holy Sinners
Cinematography by Jacob Sarver
A student short film written and directed by Isa Corrales for Cinelo Productions. This was my first experience using a RED Dragon camera and despite making this well over a year ago I still feel it’s some of the best work I’ve ever done. This film went on to win Best Thriller at the Crown Point International Film Festival and Bridgefest, as well as being accepted into The Tyler Man International Film Festival, Fantasm’s Shock Reel Cinema Film Festival, Symbiotic Film Festival, Thrills and Chills Film Awards, and the Miami Underground Film Festival.
Confessions of a Productive Mind
Cinematography and Editing by Jacob Sarver
A student short film written and directed by Will Calkins for Cinelon Productions. Shot on Canon C70. Initially I had only signed on to the film as the Director of Photography but as it entered the post-production process Will entrusted me with editing the film as well and I think the final product was one of the best films I’ve worked on. Selected as an honorable mention in the Student World Impact Film Festival.
The Loop
Edited by Jacob Sarver
A student thesis film written and directed by Rebecca Potters. Despite the editing in this film being somewhat repetitive and seemingly easy, this was probably the biggest editing challenge I’ve faced so far. The original assembly cut of the film ran nearly an hour, and the challenge came with figuring out what to cut and how things could be reordered to make the film a more manageable length.
